Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is one of the most widely used synthetic plastics, found in everything from pipes and cables to packaging and medical devices. A critical component in the production of PVC is the suspending agent, which plays an essential role during the suspension polymerization process. This process is the most common method used to manufacture PVC, producing resin particles with controlled size and shape. In suspension polymerization, vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) is dispersed in water to form droplets. These droplets are then polymerized into solid particles. A suspending agent is added to stabilize these monomer droplets in the aqueous phase, preventing them from coalescing and ensuring uniform particle size distribution.
